Saturday view in Corozal

Corozal Town is located in the northernmost district of Belize, the Corozal District. The town itself offers a laid-back, slower lifestyle than many bigger, busier cities or tourist-filled locations. Its proximity to the Mexican border, and Mexican city of Chetumal, makes it a great place for duty-free shopping, and also means that the bustling city life is just a short trip away for those who begin to miss it.
What Corozal has to offer is a simple life off the beaten path, and North American retirees are becoming increasingly aware of this, which is why there are now hundreds of retired expats living there now. This means that not only is the lifestyle calm and quiet, but there are plenty of social activities among the expat community as well, so calm and quiet does not have to be boring.
About Corozal
The town of Corozal itself (the capital town of the Corozal District) has a population of just under 10,000 inhabitants. It has an interesting history, in that it was founded by Maya …

Visiting Belize

Belize City
Belize City is a port city of Belize, Central American country. The Haulover Creek River divides the city on the north and south sides and empties into the Caribbean Sea. It has a rotating bridge from the 1920s, which can be used manually and is a crossing point on the sides of the city. On the north side, the Belize Museum traces the country's history with exhibits that include Mayan artifacts. The Image Factory gallery exhibits local contemporary art.
At the mouth of the Haulover Creek, is the Baron Bliss lighthouse, named after the benefactor of Belize, with its tomb on the outside. Cruises dock near the Tourism Village, which has travel agencies and commercial areas. The south side has colonial buildings such as the Government House of the nineteenth century made of wood and the Cathedral of San Juan, with its old organ of the mountains. The commercial port of Belize is to the southwest. The boats depart from the marine terminal on the north side to the nearby isl…

A feeling of September Celebration in Belize

Starting on National Day and culminating on Independence Day, two weeks of city-wide patriotic celebrations keep the locals dancing in the streets. The Belize Carnival, a street festival held on the month of September, sees Belizeans doing colorful costumes and dance to Caribbean beats. The September Celebrations are a pair of holidays in Belize only eleven days apart. They are:

Battle of St. George's Caye Day (alternatively, National Day), 10 September, celebrated since 1898;Independence Day, 21 September, celebrated since 1981.

A calendar of activities has traditionally been held every year centred on both events. Annual traditions such as the Queen of the Bay pageant, concerts and talent shows, the Citizens Parade on the Tenth and Uniform Parade on the 21st and Carnival (traditionally held on the middle Saturday but has been held on other days) add to the Celebrations.
In 2007, September Celebrations began on 31 August and concluded on 22 September with a postponed Carnival (i…

Learning about Corozal

Corozal Bay features a long stretch of beach, adding to the local town area. The beaches are well integrated into the larger town and while small, still feature soft, white sand and calm waters perfect for swimming.

Positioned in Corozal District, this beach is on the North coast of Belize. You might want whether or not you are staying in the immediate vicinity. Corozal Bay stands out because it's one of the best spots for escaping the hustle of Belize's urban areas. Other nearby beaches in Belize may have the same pleasing, tropical setting as Corozal Bay, but tend to be busier because they border some of the area's most popular resorts.

How to Access The Beach
The beaches of Corozal Bay are accessible throughout the town of Corozal, though automobiles should seek out public parking. For those staying in-town, local bus routes offer a convenient way to reach the beach.
Amenities and Ambiance

The beaches are primarily located in the Corozal Town area, which faces the Coro…
