Belize Diabetes Association Corozal Branch: Held their Bridging the GAP Community Outreach Fair

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood. You can also have prediabetes. This means that your blood sugar is higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. Having pre-diabetes puts you at a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes. 
 Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get diabetes, called gestational diabetes. Blood tests can show if you have diabetes. Corozal Junior College held their 2018 Business Expo

Everyone in Corozal was invited to attend the Corozal Junior College Business Fair. On March 16, 2018, Corozal Junior College Held Their Business expo today inside the CCC Compound. The Business Expo commenced at 9am and concluded at 4pm. Each booth had their own booth food served, mix drinks, Coffee, Smoothies, Jewelries, Handmade crafts, Ice Cream homemade, pastries, sweets, and lots more. Students that participated in this year’s Expo had to create their own unique Business. I saw colorful and creative booths at the expo this year and it was the most attractive I have ever seen. During the Expo in CJC kids and adults gathered at each group to gather information about what each booth meant. My day concluded with tasting one of the smoothie I had to try. It was one of the booths called Layers Delight. And, the smoothie was Call Me Blue. While having my smoothie I heard music from the various group of the expo.
